Below are bird, fox, squirrel and rabbit illustrations by John James (Jean Jacques) Aububon and his son John Woodhouse Audubon. The bird illustrations are from The birds of America that was published in seven volumes. The fox, squirrel and rabbit illustrations are from The quadrupeds of North America that was published in three volumes. Illustrations from each publication were compiled and published in two issues of delsc along with some journal entries and portraits of the artists.
A selection of images are included below along with some portraits of John James Audubon, John Woodhouse Audubon and his first born son, Victor Gifford Audubon (1809 – 1860), who helped his father to publish his works and accompanied him on several of his expeditions. Portraits of Lucy Bakewell Audubon, John James Audubon’s wife, and Reverend John Bachman are also included below. You can find out more about Rev.
