Edward Penfield Cafe Scenes

Edward Penfield has been included in The Women and Cats of Art Nouveau Artists (Amazon), a delsc publication. He created several works with cats and is sometimes confused with a Swiss artist, Théophile Alexandre Steinlen. Some of Penfield’s works includes images for Hart, Schaffner & Marx advertisements. These are easily recognized by the logo which usually appears as a painting in the background, a knight/bugler mounted on a horse. The second large image below is a cafe print from his book Holland Sketches, published in 1907.
