Photographs from another oil painting on display during the special exhibit at the Pittsburgh Frick museum are found above. This is from Edouard Manet. It is dated 1868 and titled On the Beach, Boulogne-sur-Mer.
This is a very small painting and you'll see that many of the characters are "faceless". The paint strokes also help to show the motion of the wind and sea. This painting is housed by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts. Hopefully, the pictures above provides you with a different view of this work.
