A special exhibit at the Pittsburgh Frick museum included this painting from Vincent van Gogh. It is dated 1889 and goes by the popular title The Wheat Field behind St. Paul's Hospital, St. Rémy.

I believe you'll see from the painting and details the brushstrokes and the spots of open canvas. The pictures of this painting housed by the Virginia Museum of Fine Arts will not give you this impression of how intense the moment may have been and how much emotion went into the creation of this painting by van Gogh. Hopefully, the pictures above provides you with a different view of this work.
